EDIT: I'm not talking about the network drives manually added by net use itself, but network drives assigned to me when I log in into my domain. For me, the solution was this: I couldn't map a the root directory of a network share to a letter. It also works fine if I map the drives using the "Tools > Map network drives" utility.

If you map the drives as your user, and then start a command prompt "As Administrator", then it's a different user context, so the command-line doesn't have the mapped drives. I have been using Group Policy to map drives as I find it a lot easier and flexible with security groups if that is something needed. If I create a new share name such as "D", it works the usual which is how I am using now as a work-around.
